Quentin Grimes
Whether he was trying to facilitate or not, there were plenty of assist opportunities early for Grimes, though just about every three going in will help that. Milwaukee didn’t seem to have a clue on how to guard five out in the opening minutes. His scoring bursts were fewer and far between, but there was a long part of the second quarter where he was the only Sixer who could score.
For as many assists as he finished with, he really didn’t put himself into many turnover opportunities, another very encouraging sign from the night.
Grade: B-
Justin Edwards
Despite the offensive explosion it was a quieter start for the other rookie. He may be experiencing some three-point regression after a hot couple of weeks. Edwards still did plenty of good things in this game though. He didn’t quite take advantage of them, but he had a couple of really nice spin moves that completely lost defenders.
Grade: C
Colin Castleton
An extended stretch for Antetokounmpo ending the first quarter and starting the second put an end to the minutes mirroring as Bona finally needed a breather. Castleton was absolutely thrown into the fire, being given that assignment hours after signing with the team. It went about as well as expected, and the 14-point lead the Sixers had built disappeared almost instantly. That says more about the job Bona was doing than Castelton’s capabilities, but he didn’t have much else going on otherwise. He made one post hook but missed the rest of his shots, grabbed a couple rebounds, and threw a nice pass to a cutting Grimes.
Grade: C for Tank Commander.
The Sixers remain at home to take on another team fighting for playoff positioning. They’ll host the Minnesota Timberwolves Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET.
Despite the best efforts of Adem Bona, the tank rolls on.
After three hard fought quarters the Sixers dropped their 10th in a row 126-113 to the Milwaukee Bucks Thursday night.
Bona had the best night of his young career, leading the team with 28 points on 13-of-15 shooting. He also finished with six rebounds and three blocks. Quentin Grimes went for 24 points while tying his career-high in assists with 10.
Guerschon Yabusele had 22 points shooting 8-of-15 from the field. Justin Edwards finished with just eight. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 35 points, 17 rebounds and 20 assists.
Yabu was back in the lineup, but Kyle Lowry was out again with his hip issue. Jeff Dowtin Jr. and Alex Reese were out for two-way reasons. Nick Nurse was ejected after two quick technicals in the fourth quarter.
Here are some grades from the Center.
Adem Bona
There really wasn’t much more Bona could do to put a bow on his rookie season, but coming out this good against this competition was one of them. Not only did he start the game with the Giannis assignment, but Nick Nurse mirrored his minutes with Antetokounmpo as long as he could.
That decision paid off as he did a solid job making Giannis earn his points, while also not being afraid to go right at him and Brook Lopez on the other end.
He was just effective as a roller, using his body really well to box those guys out. Even when his fake dribble hand offs didn’t fool anyone, his decisiveness helped him bull right to the rim anyway.
Because it just never seems to stop, he did have a brief trip to the locker room in the third quarter. It looked like he banged knees with someone, but he returned a few minutes later and hardly seemed to miss a beat.
Grade: A+

Sixers' center Adem Bona had a career night with 28 points.
