He currently leads the league with 1,766 scrimmage yards after defeating the Baltimore Ravens last weekend, where he recorded 107 yards on the ground and 10 yards in the air.

The record for the most scrimmage yards in a season is currently held by former Tennessee Titans star Chris Johnson, who amassed an eye-popping 2,509 yards in 2009.

Barkley has a chance to surpass the record. He's averaging 147.17 yards from scrimmage per game over 12 games this year. Projected over 17 games, this amounts to 2,501.89 yards. His current pace is just about eight yards short of Johnson's record.

He's clearly capable of making a significant impact, having recently achieved over 300 yards from scrimmage against the Los Angeles Rams. Another performance near that level would bring him closer to the record. Barkley needs 743 yards in the final five games to match the record, averaging 148.6 yards from scrimmage per game.

The Philadelphia Eagles arguably executed the best offseason maneuver leading into the 2024 National Football League season.

Philadelphia acquired Saquon Barkley from the rival New York Giants, seemingly disrupting the franchise in the process. New York appeared to prioritize quarterback Daniel Jones over Barkley, and now he is with the Minnesota Vikings. Neither Jones nor Barkley remains with the Giants.

The Eagles evidently made a smart decision by signing Barkley, as he has the potential to make National Football League history. Barkley is on the path to history with a chance to join the 2,000-yard rushing club and potentially break the all-time record for total yards from scrimmage.
