The name might sound familiar. Goodwin, a track and field standout, was actually on the Eagles for a season but decided to opt-out in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
His standout season was in 2017 with the San Francisco 49ers, recording 56 receptions for 962 yards and two touchdowns. Last season, he played in 12 games with the Cleveland Browns, making four receptions for 67 yards. In 2022, he had 27 catches for 387 yards.
At this stage of the season, there's no one who can replace Smith. Bringing in someone like Goodwin could at least provide additional veteran depth to the practice squad. He is available on the open market, so why not give him a chance to add another pass-catcher if Smith is out longer?
The Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver lineup is certainly being challenged at the moment.
Despite numerous injuries, Philadelphia has managed to secure victories consistently. Fortunately, the Eagles boast talent throughout their roster. Currently, they are coping with the absence of star receiver DeVonta Smith.
Smith was absent from the Eagles' win over the Los Angeles Rams last week due to a hamstring injury. It’s uncertain if he will be able to return to the field on Sunday when the Eagles face the Baltimore Ravens.
Hopefully, the star will be able to return. If not, the Eagles should seriously consider strengthening their lineup. A potential, cost-effective addition to the practice squad is 10-year NFL veteran Marquise Goodwin.

DeVonta Smith is still recovering from his hamstring issue and maybe out longer then once thought.
