Meanwhile, in other Phillies news, right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker took a positive step in his recovery from right shoulder soreness, completing three innings of live batting practice at Nationals Park. Walker's velocity hovered around 90 mph, a reassuring development considering the adverse weather conditions. The team plans to assess Walker's condition before determining the next steps in his rehabilitation process.

Additionally, Orion Kerkering's rehabilitation assignment experienced a slight delay due to a right forearm strain. Despite a successful outing in single-A Clearwater, the Phillies intend for Kerkering to undergo consecutive pitching appearances before rejoining the major league roster.

In a significant update within the division, the Atlanta Braves disclosed that right-handed pitcher Spencer Strider underwent an MRI, revealing damage to the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow. Strider's condition necessitates further evaluation, raising concerns about the potential need for Tommy John surgery, a procedure he previously underwent during his collegiate career at Clemson University in 2019.

The Philadelphia Phillies made an unsurprising move on Saturday, trading right-handed reliever Connor Brogdon to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for left-handed reliever Benony Robles, as confirmed by the team.

Brogdon, 29, found himself designated for assignment by the Phillies on April 2 following a challenging outing against the Reds, where he conceded a game-deciding grand slam in the 10th inning. In his brief stint of two innings across three games, Brogdon yielded six earned runs. He now joins the Dodgers' 40-man roster.

On the other side of the trade, the Phillies acquire 23-year-old Robles, a Dominican Republic native. Robles showcased promise with a notable performance last season, appearing in a career-high 33 games for the Dodgers' high-A affiliate, the Great Lakes, and maintaining a 3.86 ERA over 32⅔ innings. While he possesses some experience as a starter, Robles has predominantly operated as a reliever over the past three seasons, amassing a 4.67 ERA throughout five minor league campaigns. Notably, his velocity has seen a considerable uptick since joining the Dodgers organization in 2017, now clocking in the mid-to-high-90s range.

Robles brings a diverse repertoire to the table, featuring a slider, changeup, and cutter. His pitching style presents challenges for left-handed hitters, often inducing swings-and-misses. However, he has encountered difficulties against right-handed hitters, a facet he aims to refine moving forward.

Despite his prowess in striking out batters, control remains an area of concern for Robles, hindering his progression to higher minor league tiers. Issues with timing and pitch placement have contributed to elevated walk rates in recent seasons, with a 13.9% walk rate recorded in 2023.
