If that wasn’t enough, Chick-Fil-A has also raised the stakes.
Normally, the “Bricken for Chicken” promotion, where an opponent missing two straight free throws gives everyone in the participating area free nuggets, is only for the second half. For Game 6, the promotion will run for the entire game. (If you’re a fan of free chicken nuggets, you should hope the Sixers foul New York’s Mitchell Robinson, who hit only 40% of his free throws this season).
None of this would be possible of course if not for the Game 5 heroics of Tyrese Maxey and the guts Joel Embiid and the rest of the Sixers showed down the stretch. The team now has life, but still a lot of work to do with the Knicks holding a 3-2 series lead.
Game 6 will tip off at 9 p.m. (yes, that’s really the start time) at the Wells Fargo Center Thursday.
Whether you were watching on TV or in attendance, Games 3 and 4 didn’t sound like much of a homecourt advantage for the Sixers.
Knicks fans made their trips down the turnpike and took advantage of tickets at the Wells Fargo Center being (significantly) cheaper than Madison Square Garden. Those games sounded basically like a 50-50 split. Joel Embiid even voiced his disappointment.
Well, credit where it’s due: the Sixers’ ownership group (along with Fanatics CEO and former minority owner Michael Rubin) are planning to purchase and distribute 2,000 tickets for Game 6 Thursday night in Philly. While it’s great that they’re looking to make sure the Sixers get an actual homecourt advantage, who they’re planning to give the tickets to makes it way cooler:
