Council’s best month this season was February where he averaged 8.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting 51.7% from the field. While he has played in just 31 of a possible 81 games this season, Council’s new deal shows that he and the 76ers envision having a great future together.

The Philadelphia 76ers have an important regular-season finale ahead of them as they could finish as high as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference if things go their way. With that in mind, Philadelphia made sure to take care of business with one of their promising rookies.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the 76ers are converting rookie Ricky Council IV’s Two-Way contract into a four-year, $7.4 million deal. Charania also notes that the conversion adds $864,000 in new money this season so Council will be getting a lot richer with this new deal.
Council has certainly earned the new payday as he has gone from undrafted free-agent in the 2023 NBA Draft to showing some impressive flashes in the second half of this season. Council, 22, did not play his first game for Philadelphia this season until a Jan. 2 matchup against the Chicago Bulls in which he played six minutes.
